A really nice connection aid that I rate most for chipping and pitching — that is where it shines for me. It builds trail-arm connection and a more structured, rotary swing, and it is genuinely portable. Go in with eyes open though: the follow-through is restricted so it is not for full shots, and if you have right-shoulder issues, limited flexibility, or an over-the-top slice, use it carefully — or give it a miss.

THE REVIEW

Heads up: this review has affiliate links, so if you buy through them I may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. I only write up gear I have actually used and coached with.

The TRS Slider is a connection aid that keeps your right (trail) arm linked to your body through the swing. I have used it a lot and seen plenty of people getting on with it on social media too — it is a really nice bit of kit. It is aimed at the flying right elbow: by connecting that trail arm it tidies things into a more structured swing and, for me, helps you rotate better both back and through.

Where I love it most is chipping and pitching — it is phenomenal for that, my favourite use by a mile. It is also pitched at slicers, and there is logic to it: connecting the trail arm gets you working more around your body, which suits the upright, armsy slicer. One caveat though — if your slice comes from an over-the-top move, the connected arm can actually drag you even more over the top when you throw the shoulder at it. If that is you, feel like your back stays to the target and let the hands fall, or set up with a slightly split stance.

Honest limitations: it restricts your follow-through, so you cannot hit full shots with it on — that is the main thing I am not keen on. You can use it with a driver but it will feel restrictive. And it is a forcing aid — it holds you in position rather than building your own awareness, so some players swing straight back outside it once it is off. I am genuinely in two minds as a coach on that. I would also steer clear if you have any right-shoulder issues or you are tight through the shoulders — it can push the strain elsewhere and you could even risk injury.

On price, yes it is effectively a seatbelt and a bit of Velcro, but there is real development and marketing behind it and it still comes in at less than a decent lesson, so I think it is fair. I love that it is properly portable — it folds into your bag and comes with a neat little carry/tote bag you can clip on. Use the discount code to take a bit off, too.

Pros

Cons

  • Connects the trail arm so the swing feels more structured — helps you rotate back and through

  • Brilliant for chipping and pitching — my favourite use for it

  • Helps the upright slicer work more around the body

  • Properly portable — folds into the bag with a handy carry/tote bag you can clip on

  • Fair value — looks simple but costs less than a decent lesson

  • Discount code ROSSEVES takes money off at TRS Golf

  • Restricts the follow-through — you cannot hit full shots with it on

  • Can feel restrictive even with a driver

  • Not for golfers with right-shoulder issues or limited flexibility — risks strain elsewhere and even injury

  • Over-the-top slicers can come even more over the top unless they keep the back to the target or use a split stance

  • It forces the position rather than building awareness, so some players swing back outside it once it is off

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What is the TRS Slider for?

The TRS Slider keeps your trail arm connected to your body to fix a flying right elbow, giving a more structured swing and better rotation back and through.

What is the TRS Slider best at?

Chipping and pitching, for my money — those smaller swings are where I rate it most.

Can the TRS Slider fix my slice?

Yes, it can help. But if you're a slicer, use it with a split stance — feel like your back is to the target and keep it there through the downswing, so you don't spin out over the top.

Can the TRS Slider increase distance?

It can, yes — especially if you're losing power by getting disconnected, because reconnecting the arm and body helps you deliver the club better. The flip side: if it shortens your swing dramatically, you could actually lose a bit of distance, so it depends on your fault.

Can you use the TRS Slider for full shots or with a driver?

You can, but it limits the follow-through, so be careful — it's not really made for full-speed driver swings because it curtails the finish. It's at its best on shorter swings and for rehearsing connection rather than flat-out full shots.

Can you use the TRS Slider to fix a chicken wing?

Yes — you can wear it on your lead arm to help stop the chicken wing. It's a little restrictive and gives you a curtailed finish, but it's genuinely useful for training that out.

Does the TRS Slider work for left- and right-handed golfers?

Yes — it works for both.

Who should avoid the TRS Slider?

Anyone with right-shoulder issues or limited shoulder mobility, and players who want really wide swings with less connection. Over-the-top slicers can use it, but carefully — keep your back to the target or use a split stance.

Is the TRS Slider worth the price?

It looks like a seatbelt and a bit of Velcro, but it costs less than a decent lesson and packs down into your bag, so I think it's fair.
