Tested by PGA coach Ross Eves, the Sure Golf Connector is a swing-connection training aid that costs $99.99 (UK price: £109).
It is a soft memory-foam ball that sits between your forearms, with three rods sticking out - one on the left, one on the right and one pointing forwards. My girlfriend reckons it looks like a certain one-eyed cartoon monster, which made me laugh. At its core it does the same job as a connection ball like the TRS Ball, the ProSENDR ball or the Impact Ball - but the rods are the twist, and they are the real reason to buy it.
The foam is soft, like a memory-foam pillow. It can be a touch slippy, and when you first pick it up it feels a little dense and awkward to swing - I personally prefer a lighter connection ball for my own game. It also has no lanyard or strap, so it can fall out. I rigged up an elastic strip myself, which added a nice bit of resistance and stretch and helped me train width - a lanyard would be a genuine improvement.
Where it earns its place is the rods. The forearm alignment is excellent - you can even use it for putting, and forearm alignment is something a lot of golfers get wrong. It is great for the takeaway, giving you the feeling of the right side sitting a touch higher. I especially like it in the downswing: the right-hand rod drops lower so you feel the club shallowing, which is a brilliant visual for anyone who comes over the top and slices. The forward rod lets you check where the clubface is pointing as you return to the ball, and it is handy for a hold-off or chicken-wing move too - you feel that front rod pointing at the target. It is so versatile you can apply it to almost any fault, which is why I rate it so highly as a coaching tool.
On value, it costs about the same as a decent golf lesson, which is fair for how much it does. You will see cheap copies on Temu, Amazon and eBay - do not. I have tried that route: the foam is poor, the alignment rails are the wrong way round and they fall out. It is false economy. Buy the genuine one.
